Vitamin C supports the adrenal glands which are responsible for producing stress hormones. For those times that you find yourself facing physical or emotional turbulence, Sufficient-C® can help.
The adrenal glands are among the organs with the highest concentration of vitamin C in the body. Saturation of vitamin C is a specific cure for adrenal fatigue. In other words, it's best to keep these glands maximized with vitamin C or fatigue will ensue.
In October 1939, John Crandon, a Harvard surgeon subjected himself to a diet that consisted solely of bread, crackers, eggs, cheese, beer, pure chocolate, and sugar with supplements of yeast and additionally supplemented with all vitamins other than vitamin C. At the start of the trial his blood was analyzed for ascorbic acid (vitamin C). His vitamin C value was at 1.0 mg%. After 21 days, his value had fallen to 0.1 mg%, and six weeks later no vitamin C could even be detected!
Crandon had not changed his daily routine while on his high carbohydrate diet. Early on he started to feel an atypical feeling of fatigue. After 26 weeks, Crandon was given a fatigue test. He was only able to run at seven miles per hour for just 16 seconds and showed rapid exhaustion in other measurements. One gram of vitamin C was given intravenously each day for a week. A subjective improvement was noticed in the first 24 hours. (1)
This is a real life example of the dangers of vitamin C deficiency as well as the value of adequate vitamin C consumption. It is also important to note that the amount of vitamin C that is needed to combat adrenal fatigue can not be solely obtained through diet. Additional supplementation is typically needed at sufficient doses, on a daily basis to prevent and combat adrenal fatigue.
We also know that being deficient in vitamin C creates vulnerability to viruses and susceptibility to bacterial infections.
In short, a lack of vitamin C is simply a risk not worth taking.
